Medicine Mondays

Recently, I’ve been pretty active on Twitter. It’s been fun to post GIFs everywhere and interacting with really cool people. However, more so than that, I’ve been able to find out about topics which are really important to the target demographic of my blog, namely, pre-meds, medical students, and residents. Since we’re in the middle of match, and interview invites are starting, I felt it was important to talk about residency interviews. Here’s a thread from @mcsassymd (Sassy, […]

Residency Interviews

Today’s topic is kind of only circumferentially related to medicine, and more relates to my past expectations. Also, apologies if the site was loading slowly recently. I think the new Twitter widget was slowing things down. I have since removed it because I feel speed is more important. For those interested in my twitter, you can just click the link at the top. I tend to reply to med students and residents, mostly with GIFs. Thanks to […]

EpiPen has been in the news a lot lately, mostly about the recent price increases. This has led to strong backlash and criticism against its parent company, Mylan, and its CEO, Heather Bresch. There is a lot information going around. However, I’m going to try to summarize what I have read and pieced together. Ok first things first: EpiPen recently increases the cost of a 2-pack of its product to $608. This was a significant increase since it previously cost […]

Here in Hawaii, there was a recent Hepatitis A outbreak. It happened around the end of June or so, into July. It was recently discovered that the outbreak came from raw scallops shipped in from the Phillipines. Unfortunately, this batch of scallops went to Genki Sushi. This sushi chain is relatively common on Oahu and people seem to like it. It has a conveyor belt style (kaiten zushi or kuru kuru sushi) that is pretty common in […]
