October Sadness #illumedati

Hey everyone, it’s Whatever Wednesdays… but I was busy all day with my daughter since she’s on Fall Break. Today is just a short post about “October Sadness”.

October Sadness

I’m sad today because the Dodgers lost in the NLDS. After a great season, they couldn’t get into the NLCS nor the World Series.

My boy, Max Muncy, did his best to try to carry his team into the NLCS, but it was all for naught.

The only potential silver lining to this postseason is that I think at this point the Dodgers need to seriously consider offering a reasonable extension to Max Muncy to lock him down. He’s had two great regular seasons for the Dodgers, a decent postseason in 2018, and a pretty darn good albeit shortened post season in 2019. All things combined, he’s the model of consistency and has demonstrated he can hit elite pitching.

Throw my boy Muncy a 5 year extension.

Maybe Bueller too.

As for the rest of the team, I’m not sure what happened. It may have been the case that the offense just can’t hit elite hitting — considering how the offense faltered. If that is the case, then the major thing to do this offseason is to reinforce starting pitching and the bullpen again.

Will it happen?

Probably not.

Unfortunately, I don’t see the Dodgers making too many waves this off season. The likelihood that they sign another impact player like Gerrit Cole or Anthony Rendon seems pretty low to me given how Andrew Friedman runs things.

I think that the Braves losing to the Cardinals was unexpected. The Yankees sweeping the Twins was also unexpected. The Dodgers losing to the Nationals was definitely unexpected. The Astros and Rays series needing to go to 5 games is also unexpected.

I guess there isn’t much to say except:

Anything can happen in the best of 5 or best of 7 series.

“Wait till next year!” — but us Dodgers fans have been waiting since 1988… so the I guess the real question is:

“When will ‘this year’ be ‘next year’?”

TL;DR

Dodgers lost. I’m sad.
