Hey everyone, it’s Whatever Wednesdays again…. and I’m posting this at 10 pm Hawaii Time, so it’ll probably show up as being posted on Thursday… This post is “Dad Life Part Two“.
However, it doesn’t really matter what time it says it was posted, since this isn’t a real post, but more of an explanation.
My son woke up sick so I needed to take him to the doctor. Luckily, this is one of my off days so I was able to take him this morning. I came when the office opened so we could be seen as a walk-in by our PCP.
The visit went fine and we received the prescription and were told to keep him out of preschool till Friday. Luckily, my in-laws will be able to watch him tomorrow since I have to go to work.
Later on my contractor and his painter came over to look at my house and put together a proposal for fixing my lanai (deck) and repainting some (or all) of my house.
So that’s Dad Life Part Two.
Somewhere in all of this I was supposed to write a post about Crypto for Whatever Wednesdays. I was planning for it to be a stream of consciousness type post about why I believe in the technology and why I think it will be both evolutionary and transformative. Most of this comes from the vision that Charles Hoskinson has for the future.
The long and short of it is that it won’t be all that transformative for first world countries. It will makes things easier for us, as a normal evolution of technology. However, for 3rd world countries, it will enable them to leapfrog a few generations. I imagine the internet will be bundled with blockchain, which will let them “catch up”, which is transformative. Seems kind of miraculous right? However, I think it’s ok to be optimistic about this sort of thing.
I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.
Anyways, the things above occurred and some other stuff came up and basically I never got around to the post. Then one of my friends asked my what was wrong with my website… so I checked it and there was an error.
Once again, Jetpack had failed me. There was a small update that was necessary (and apparently critical) and basically by using the prior version it was crashing my website. Unfortunately, this prevented me from using the wordpress admin dashboard, so I had to try to fix things through my wordpress host. Luckily, after realizing an update had been pushed through, I decided the best course of action was just to update the Jetpack plugin and see if that fixed things — and it did. This is great because otherwise I would have had to disable Jetpack again and try to figure out what went wrong, which would have taken much longer.
All that said, I really do like Jetpack. However, if it keeps causing me problems I may need to disable it permanently and find a different method. I hope it doesn’t come to that.
In other news, the Dodgers lost. It’s only spring training, but I was still sad.
TL;DR
My son is sick.
My house needs work.
Jetpack failed me.
This reads like “The Wednesday that felt like a Monday.”
