Hey everyone, it’s Whatever Wednesdays again. Today is going to be kind of a lazy post about “Last Minute Gift Ideas”.

Last Minute Gift Ideas

So, it’s December 20th – 5 days before Christmas. For those of us in Hawaii, the time to use Amazon to buy gifts in time for Christmas has already passed. However, for you mainlanders with Prime 2-Day Shipping, we’re now in the Last Minute Gift Ideas Realm. After my extensive research this holiday season, here is my list:

Motor Works by Discovery Toys

This cool little set comes with a race car, motorcycle, and a little airplane in a nice little plastic toolbox. It also has a motorized “powerdrill” and a screwdriver. One of Kylie’s friends has this set and both Kylie and Lucas loved playing with it.

Paw Patrol

Lucas loves Paw Patrol stuff. My nephew also loves Paw Patrol as well. Out of all the Paw Patrol toys, I like these the best:

Paw Patrol – Paw Patroller

Paw Patrol, Lights and Sounds Air Patroller Plane (or Amazon Exclusive Version)

Overall, Paw Patrol has some really cool stuff, but I think these toys above are the best bang for your buck.

This one also deserves Honorable Mention:

Nickelodeon Paw Patrol – Sea Patrol – Sea Patroller Transforming Vehicle with Lights and Sounds

Baby Alive Sweet Tears Baby

This doll is pretty cool because it “shows emotion” and interacts with the check-up accessories. Of course, as you might expect the highlight is that the baby “really cries”. My daughter has wanted this doll since she first saw it months and months ago. Every time it shows up on the TV she reminds me of “how awesome it is”.

Calico Critters

Well, my daughter really loves Calico Critters and she plays with her “Luxury Townhome” all the time.

Originally, the MSRP for the Gift Set was $129.99, which is way too expensive in my opinion. However, right now it’s been selling for ~$79.99, which is much more reasonable (but still expensive). However, these is a lot of play value here because it includes two characters and some furniture out-of-the-box.

Calico Critters Luxury Townhome Gift Set

Check out my daughter’s full review.

There are a ton of toys in the Calico Critters line, but I think the best bang for your buck ones for filling out the Luxury Townhome with more furniture are:

Calico Critters Kozy Kitchen Set

Calico Critters Deluxe Living Room Set

Then, in terms of getting more characters to play with in the Townhome, I’d go with:

Calico Critters Hopscotch Rabbit Family

Calico Critters Hopscotch Rabbit Twins

For the Dinosaur Lover:

Schleich Tyrannosaurus Rex

This dinosaur is expensive at first glance. However, the detail is really good and the bottom jaw is movable. In terms of play value I think that really adds to the trex being able to chase after and “eat” cars and other stuff.

LEGOs

You know I’m a LEGO person, and I’ve already talked about LEGOs a lot before, most recently in my Cyber Monday Post. So of course I’m going to talk about a few more:

LEGO City Police High-speed Chase 60138

I don’t actually own this set, as I bought it as a gift for someone. However, I think this is a great bang for your buck set for those just getting into LEGOs. This is set is reasonably priced and you get 2 different car builds, a helicopter, and 4 mini-figs. Basically, everything is included to re-enact your own high-speed car chase, which is a great value in my opinion.

LEGO Friends Sunshine Catamaran 41317 Building Kit (603 Piece)

This is another set which I feel is kind of underrated because it came out originally at a high price point of $70. However, with a $15 price cut, it’s actually a good value at $55. This little catamaran packs in a lot of good playability.

However…

I’m actually most excited about this last one:

Smart Builder Toys Kids 2 in 1 Duplo and Lego Compatible Table With Large Storage Area and 2 Chairs Set

Whenever my kids go to the LEGO Store, they love to sit there and play with the LEGOs or Duplos for a long time just building stuff. I’ve been looking for a good LEGO table for awhile. I almost bought a few before and there are a lot of options for Do-It-Yourself projects. However, I don’t really trust myself too much with building stuff, so I was looking for a good ready-made option. Of particular importance to me was having the option of using regular LEGOs or DUPLOs since Kylie uses the regular LEGOs and Lucas is better with the DUPLOs (currently). On this one, one side is LEGO and the other side is DUPLO, which is perfect. Also, it has some build-in storage, which is also great.

My only concern is that the overall space may be a little small. However, I think it should work fine for now until they’re a little older, at which point they may each need their own full-fledged LEGO Table/Desk.

As I write this on 12/20/2017, there are no reviews and just 4 answered questions, so it’s a very new item. As you know, I’m not normally an early adopter, but I think they’ve done a good job of giving people want they want in a LEGO table. I’ll probably do a full review on this later, or Kylie will.

PJ Masks

Just Play PJ Masks Headquarters Playset

This playset comes with the headquarters, Catboy, and Catboy’s Cat Car. However, what my son Lucas was most excited about when watching the commercial on TV is the zipline it comes with. They already have the other figures and their vehicles, which I assume works with this set.

Catboy and Cat-CarGekko and Gekko-MobileOwlette and Owl Glider

Blaze and the Monster Machines

Unfortunately, there aren’t that many great Blaze toys out there. There was a series of die-cast Blaze vehicles, but they came out awhile ago and are essentially sold-out and being resold at higher than MSRP. However, these two toys are pretty good:

Mega Bloks Blaze Buildable Axle City Monster Dome Set

This little set you build the track first in Mega Bloks, which are basically just jumbo LEGOs, perfect for my 2 year old.

Fisher-Price Nickelodeon Blaze & the Monster Machines, Transforming Fire Truck Blaze

This toy is pretty cool because it has huge rubber tires and “transforms” between Race Car Blaze and Fire Truck Blaze. It makes some noises too.

For someone who loves surprises:

To be honest, I’m not really into this whole “surprise egg” fad that seems to be going around. However, I figured I’d try it out:

Hatchimals – CollEGGtibles 4-Pack + Bonus (Season 1)

Hatchimals – CollEGGtibles 4-Pack + Bonus (Season 2)

For your friend who is into Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin

Ledger Nano S Cryptocurrency Hardware Wallet

I’ll try to do a full review on Software/Hardware Wallets, as well as the Ledger Nano S specifically later.

TL;DR

Just some cool stuff I saw this Holiday Season, check it out.

Yes to all the Paw Patrol stuff!!! My kid is crazy for those dogs! I told him he could have 1 big toy and he’s still deciding between the paw patrol plane or the bus. Also he’s getting really into legos so that definitely comes from his Chu ?? Glad to see the mini hatchimals made the list bc that’s what I got for my nieces lol

Nice! I think Paw Patrol has a good line of toys… and of course, Legos are the best! I’m not quite sold on the hatchimals yet, but we’ll see how her reaction is.
